The long stretched beaches of Vlieland
Vlieland has beautiful beaches, along the north side of the island is an elongated sandy beach 12 km long. On both the east and west sides of the island is a large sandbar, of which the Vliehors in the west, unlike the Richel in the east, is still attached to the island. Vlieland is a haven for 100 species of birds, such as the Eider Duck and the Black-backed Gull.
The beaches are a wonderful place for recreation, not only for people but also for dogs. On Vlieland, dogs running loose on the beach are also welcome. The beaches are well maintained and cleaned daily in the summer. The facilities are optimal, easily accessible beach crossings and lifeguards and a first aid post within easy reach.
