The long stretched beaches of Vlieland

Vlieland has beautiful beaches, along the north side of the island there is a long sandy beach of 12 km long. Both on the east and west side of the island there is a large sandbank, of which the Vliehors in the west, in contrast to the Richel in the east, is still attached to the island. Vlieland is a refuge for 100 species of birds, such as the Eider duck and the Black-backed gull.

The beaches are a wonderful place to relax, not only for people but also for dogs. On Vlieland, free-roaming dogs are also welcome on the beach. The beaches are well maintained and cleaned up daily in the summer. The facilities are optimal, easily accessible beach crossings and the rescue brigades and a first aid post within easy reach.
